On 16 September 2026, we’re opening our doors for the Galvanizing Industry Open Day, a nationwide event where 29 galvanizing plants across the UK and Ireland welcome visitors in for the day, organised by the Galvanizers Association.
It’s a straightforward way to see how hot dip galvanizing actually works and why so much of the steel around us, in buildings, bridges, farms and roads, relies on it to stop rust before it starts.
Whatever your connection to steel, whether you design it, build with it, buy it or just want to understand it better, you’re welcome to come along and see the process for yourself.
What to Expect
On the day, you’ll be able to:
- Watch the hot dip galvanizing process from start to finish, from raw steel to the finished product
- Take a look around our shot blasting and coating facilities
- Meet the Shannonside team
- Ask us anything, from how the process works to questions about your own project
